The Challenge

Gather ’round, ye Brethren of the pedal and chain, 

To a land of dust and the desert’s disdain! 

Where the sun bleeds gold o’er the Estrella crest, 

And the Goodyear sands put a soul to the test.

The air be thick with the choke of the grit, 

As tires scream out where the jagged rocks split. 

The Estrella Cup ain’t no casual stroll, 

‘Tis a battle for spirit, for speed, and for soul!

From the youngest of swabbies to the grizzled and gray, 

There be three paths of plunder to finish the day:

The Ten-Mile Skirmish: For the quick and the light. 

The Twenty-Mile Voyage: To prove ye can fight.

The Forty-Seven-Mile Odyssey: A marathon’s dread, 

Where the weak drop their anchors and wish they were dead! 

On tracks carved by hand through the cactus and thorn, 

‘Tis here that the legends of Goodyear are born. 

Through single-track fast where the brave dare to fly, 

And climbs so damn brutal they reach for the sky!

“Come for the battle, ‘midst the dust and the grime, 

Stay for the Brethren, and a hell of a time!”
